SOCY-320

Research Methods in the Social Sciences

This course is about how we know things. Students will study theoretical principles, ethical issues, and common techniques for designing and implementing qualitative and quantitative social science research. Students will also introduce a popular statistical software package called SPSS.  This course is an overview of the tools a sociologist uses to understand human behavior and interaction. The methods covered are the marketable skills of a sociologist and can be translated into real world applications in a variety of jobs both inside and outside the discipline.
